[Bangkok, Thailand – September 10, 2024] – Kenan Foundation is transforming education in Thailand through an innovative initiative, “Empowering Education through Technologies, AI, and Project-Based Learning to Promote Green Communities.” Sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS),
this project aims to drive a shift in how project-based learning is implemented, ensuring that education becomes more interactive, data-driven, and relevant to real-world challenges.
The program integrates AI-driven tools and innovative educational technologies to remove typically tedious and time-consuming work, thus allowing teachers to focus their time on improving the quality of their content, and foster greater creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in their students.
Teachers from twenty-four math and science teachers from 12 schools in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) will undergo professional development to learn how to leverage technology for project-based learning (PBL) initiatives. Teachers will have access to STEM resources, mentoring, and training designed to transform classrooms into dynamic, interactive spaces that foster exploration and problem-solving through technology.
The project will kick off with a transformative three-day intensive training, designed to empower teachers to harness the power of AI and cutting-edge technology in their classrooms. This training will equip educators to implement technology-enhanced project-based learning (TePBL) practices that ignite curiosity and bring even the most complex concepts to life. Armed with interactive tools and data-driven insights, teachers will be able to craft lessons that not only engage students but inspire them to think critically and creatively.
Throughout the project, teachers will evolve their classrooms from traditional spaces into vibrant hubs of innovation—places where students can actively explore simulations and tools to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including climate change. These dynamic learning environments will encourage students to experiment, collaborate, and apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
By the project’s conclusion, teachers will not only have transformed their teaching methods but will also have the opportunity to showcase their technologies-driven lesson plans, share their success stories, and collaborate with like-minded educators. This exchange of ideas and best practices will foster a future-focused network of leaders committed to shaping the next generation of learners and driving sustainable change.
This initiative is designed to create a lasting impact by empowering teachers to lead the next generation of learners who are not only academically successful but also socially and environmentally conscious.
“Together, we can empower teachers to create classrooms where learning is driven by curiosity, powered by innovation, and focused on sustainability,” said Richard Bernhard, Executive Director of Kenan.
“By equipping educators with cutting-edge tools and training, we are paving the way for students to become leaders in building a sustainable future.”
